8:00am - 12:00pm Conflict and Behavior Management (4 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Approved by the Board of Registered Nurses This four-hour course teaches participants about behavior as a form of communication and how to manage it using the ABCs of behavior, triggers, and responses. It also covers identifying and handling difficult behaviors in residents. Participants will learn about the five types of conflict managers and the five Ps of conflict management, and how to apply them to different situations. The program aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to effectively manage difficult behaviors and conflicts in various settings. Read more

8:00am - 6:30pm Behavior Speaks Louder Than Words (5 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted  by the Board of Registered Nurses This 5-hour course provides participants with tools to understand problem behaviors in residential settings. The course is based on the premise that staff armed with the tools to understand what behavior is communicating can go a long way to improving the quality of care, and satisfaction of residents, families, and staff.   Diversity and Cultural Competence (3 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This three‐hour course will provide a basic overview of cultural competence and its importance for people in residential programs. Administrators will examine their thoughts on ethnicity and diversity issues. The class covers diversity at all levels including, but not limited to, race, religion, gender, ethnic background, and sexual identity. The course will address the issues leading to the passage of CA AB663 (2013).   Regulations: A Visit from Your LPA (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program This two‐hour course outlines how to be prepared for a visit from your Licensing Program  Analyst. Topics include frequency and potential reasons for a visit, what tools the analyst will use, accommodations you are required to provide for the inspection, and potential outcomes. Also discussed will be what constitutes a serious deficiency, the most commonly cited deficiencies, and citations. When, how, and if an appeal is appropriate will be discussed. Participants will leave with a plan for achieving “substantial compliance.” Read more

8:00am - 6:30pm Food Service by the Numbers (4 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This 4-hour course equips students with the knowledge and skills to ensure that the meals they are serving are safe, delicious, and meet the nutritional needs of their residents. This course covers regulations and budgeting, food safety practices and meal planning principles, modified and supplemental diets, the four pillars of food safety, and common food safety myths. We will also explore the science behind foodborne illnesses and identify common risks.   Disaster Preparedness (4 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses It is essential that residential facilities are equipped and ready to respond to disasters that endanger the lives of residents and staff, and damage property. While not all disasters may be anticipated, studies demonstrate that preparation, knowing how to respond when a disaster strikes,  and remaining calm and flexible can save lives and reduce physical damage.   Inclusive Care: LGBTQIA+ Issues in Residential Settings (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This two-hour interactive course equips administrators with the knowledge and tools to create inclusive, affirming environments for LGBTQIA+ residents. Participants will explore the unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in licensed residential care, including legal protections, health disparities, and social isolation. Through engaging discussions, real-world case studies, and legal insights, attendees will learn how to address discrimination, respect diverse identities, and implement culturally competent practices. This course empowers caregivers to support LGBTQIA+ residents with dignity, respect, and compassion by fostering understanding and acceptance. Read more

8:00am - 6:30pm Medications: The SMART Approach (5 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This 5-hour course will cover Title 22 regulations regarding medication assistance to meet requirements and best practices. This course will prepare participants from all residential facility types on those requirements. Can also be used by live-in staff to prepare to assist with the self-administration of medications in a residential care facility. The course will also review training methods so participants can train others.   Digging Deeper into Infectious Diseases (HIV, AIDS and TB) (5 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This five-hour updated course provides the most current information on HIV, AIDS, and TB necessary for ARF administrators and is also relevant for GH, STRTP, and RCFE administrators. The content includes hepatitis, MRSA, and other common infectious diseases in residential care. While the state requirements focus on client issues, this course also addresses employee concerns. 8:00am - 12:00pm Regulations: Residents' Personal Rights (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This course provides participants with the knowledge and ability to understand and apply the daily practice of ensuring Residents' Rights. This course is based on the client rights under the Lanterman Act passed in 1969 and CDSS Title 22.   Regulations: Keeping You Current in 2025 (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly No Group Home/STRTP This two-hour course will cover regulations expected to be implemented in the coming year and issues the legislature is expected to act on within the year. Updates on CCLD and issues related to residential care laws, including labor laws, will be briefly reviewed. Read more

8:00am - 6:30pm Activities and Resident Engagement (4 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This 4-hour course will review regulatory requirements on activities and staffing and provide tools for providers to expand their activities program options.   Managing Challenging Behaviors - Navigating Difficult Behaviors (4 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This four-hour course is designed to help participants manage difficult behaviors in various settings. It covers identifying difficult behaviors and associated issues, developing tips for handling these behaviors, applying concepts of grieving, identifying difficult behaviors of residents, and managing them effectively. The ABCs of behavior and teaching techniques for problem-solving and behavior management for staff are also covered. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to manage difficult behaviors and create positive outcomes.   Regulations: Mandated Reporting and Documenting Incidents (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP This two‐hour course outlines the requirements of reporting to CCLD when the unexpected occurs. From the duties of a mandated reporter to accidents, disasters, outbreaks, and more, this course teaches the participant how to avoid fines by properly documenting and reporting the unforeseen.
