Welcome to Formula 40 Plus! Formula 40 Plus takes the guesswork out of your renewal application process! You get 40 CEUs of training - we will consult with you to design a course schedule that will ensure you get all of your renewal requirements fulfilled. We keep track of your course certificates. We collect from you your completed renewal application, your check made payable to the Department of Social Services, and a copy of your Nursing Home Administrator license (if applicable). We review your application package for completeness and correctness and submit everything via certified mail to CCLD on your behalf. Please note: CCL will accept no more than 10 CEUs completed in a single day! Certification renewal requires 40 hours; at least 20 of which must be conducted in a live course format, and 20 may be completed in a self-paced course format. *Group Home and STRTP users: Please note that not all of our courses are approved for GH/STRTP. Be sure to check whether you will receive credit before beginning a course.   Plus packages finished within 14 days of certificate expiration do not allow enough processing time and may risk a $300 CCLD late fee. We’ll focus on person-centered care strategies tailored to promote dignity, independence, and meaningful engagement within these environments. 8:00am - 6:30pm Laughing All the Way to the Bank: How to Keep Your Workforce Happy (4 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP No BRN This four-hour class will review the literature regarding positive work environments and the importance of laughter and humor. Through lectures, discussions, and activities, participants will develop an appreciation for the science behind laughter and the importance of creating workplaces that encourage employees to enjoy their work. Material will also be discussed about the importance of laughter in dealing with elders and people with disabling conditions, as it affects the types of activities planned and developed for that population.   Dementia: Engaging Activities (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly No Group Home/STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This two-hour course is a new way to look at activities and how to create an activity program that provides meaning and growth for individuals with dementia. Too often, activity programs focus on fixing deficits and are called therapeutic interventions. The focus must be on the interests of the individual to provide meaningful and engaging activities and to provide truly person-centered activities.   Regulations: Residents' Personal Rights (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This course provides participants with the knowledge and ability to understand and apply the daily practice of ensuring Residents' Rights. This course is based on the client rights under the Lanterman Act passed in 1969 and CDSS Title 22.   Infection Control in Residential Care (2) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly No Group Home/STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses Residents and staff in long-term care facilities are at higher risk of infection than the average population. Infections acquired in healthcare settings account for more than 380,000 deaths annually. Infections add to health care costs, increase hospitalizations, and lead to diminished quality of life for residents. Infection control is one of the primary goals of care in a residential facility. This two-hour course reviews the regulatory requirements for infection prevention and the role of the Infection Control Lead. 8:00am - 6:30pm Behavior Speaks Louder Than Words (5 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted  by the Board of Registered Nurses This 5-hour course provides participants with tools to understand problem behaviors in residential settings. The course is based on the premise that staff armed with the tools to understand what behavior is communicating can go a long way to improving the quality of care, and satisfaction of residents, families, and staff.   Diversity and Cultural Competence (3 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home STRTP Accepted by the Board of Registered Nurses This three‐hour course will provide a basic overview of cultural competence and its importance for people in residential programs. Administrators will examine their thoughts on ethnicity and diversity issues. The class covers diversity at all levels including, but not limited to, race, religion, gender, ethnic background, and sexual identity. The course will address the issues leading to the passage of CA AB663 (2013).   Regulations: A Visit from Your LPA (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facility Residential Care for Elderly Group Home Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program This two‐hour course outlines how to be prepared for a visit from your Licensing Program  Analyst. Topics include frequency and potential reasons for a visit, what tools the analyst will use, accommodations you are required to provide for the inspection, and potential outcomes. Also discussed will be what constitutes a serious deficiency, the most commonly cited deficiencies, and citations. When, how, and if an appeal is appropriate will be discussed. Participants will leave with a plan for achieving “substantial compliance.” Read more
