Through lectures, discussions, and activities, participants will develop an appreciation for the science behind laughter and the importance of creating workplaces that encourage employees to enjoy their work. Material will also be discussed about the importance of laughter in dealing with elders and people with disabling conditions, as it affects the types of activities planned and developed for that population. It covers identifying difficult behaviors and associated issues, developing tips for handling these behaviors, applying concepts of grieving, identifying difficult behaviors of residents, and managing them effectively. The ABCs of behavior and teaching techniques for problem-solving and behavior management for staff are also covered. From the duties of a mandated reporter to accidents, disasters, outbreaks, and more, this course teaches the participant how to avoid fines by properly documenting and reporting the unforeseen.
