Hospice Care (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facilities (ARF) Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) Hospice is a type of healthcare service that provides comfort and support to individuals who are nearing the end of their lives. The goal of hospice care is to provide relief from pain and other symptoms and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families during this difficult time. Hospice care in a residential facility makes it possible for the individual to spend their final days in the comfort of a home environment, rather than in a hospital. Read more

LGBTQIA+ Issues in Residential Care (1 CEU) Approved for: Adult Residential Facilities (ARF) Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) ‘LGBTQIA+’ refers to individuals who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, asexual, and more. The LGBTQIA+ population is both growing and vulnerable.  Studies have found that LGBTQIA+ adults are more likely than their peers to experience discrimination in long-term care. California law protects the rights of all long-term care residents. In order to stay in compliance, it is important for you to understand the laws that apply to the personal rights of your residents.  More recent legislation (SB-219) specifically protects the rights of LGBTQIA+ residents against discrimination in residential facilities. Medications: The SMART Approach (4 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facilities (ARF) Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Group Home (GH) Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) The proper management of medications is essential for the health and safety of residents in a residential facility. This course covers Title 22 regulations related to medication assistance to ensure compliance with requirements and best practices. It is designed to prepare participants from all types of residential facilities to safely assist residents with self-administration of medications. Osteoporosis (2 CEUs) Approved for: Adult Residential Facilities (ARF) Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP) Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones become thin, brittle, and weak. Fragile bones fracture (break) easily, especially those in the hip, spine, and wrist. Injuries due to osteoporosis are among the most common and dangerous that can happen to an older adult.
